THIS MONTH

It’s a Yarn Swap y’all. In February, Knitters of the North will be hosting our first KOTN Yarn Swap. There will also be a free table for items that you’re ready to part with.

Here’s what you should know if you want to bring in free items:

  • Time’s Up. The free item area of the room will be for items that you are ready to part with, no swap needed.

  • Yarn Adjacent. You can bring books, tools, and yarn to giveaway.

  • Take Back What’s Left. If no one takes your items, be prepared to haul them back with you. Or sneak them into a friend’s bag. We won’t tell.

Here’s what you should know if you want to swap:

  • It’s All About the Yarn. For this swap, please bring full skeins, hanks, cakes, or balls of yarn. The swap will be for yarn only.

  • It’s a Free-Form Event. For the swap, we will gather those who are interested in trading yarn into an area and let the swapping fun begin. For our first swap, we’re keeping the rules loose. You can always say “no” to a swap offer that doesn’t match what you’re looking to trade for. When we have introductions for meeting attendees, you will be able to state if you have yarn you’d like to share and to give a preview of it to those at the meeting.

  • It’s Cashless. To keep it simple, this is a trade only event. Please do not bring yarn that you’re only interested in selling.

  • Yarn Swap Limit. We’re asking folks to limit their yarn goodness to one tote bag of yarn. The size of the tote bag is up to you.

  • Yarn Information. Please be sure that the yarn you would like to trade has either the ball band or written information about the fiber content, yarn brand, yarn amount, and yarn weight.

  • Estimated value. Even if you don’t know the exact price of the yarn (or, if it’s vintage stock, what the price would be today), we recommend having an estimated value ready to help other swappers deduce if the swap makes sense to them.

We’re looking forward to this event being a laid back and fun time!
